Hi all,

I'm looking for some software that is compatible with Polycom hardware for Video conferences. I know Polycom has the PVX but that has a price that is not really worth it.

I've also tried Ekiga and that does not work very well with the Hardware.

I'm looking for something free but anything with a decent price unlike the PVX software will do!

Thanks,
Primus

Go down the standards based route, e.g. H323.  Buy a cam and use Microsoft NetMeeting as its free!  Microsoft has been including some nice codecs for us for quite some time and are often overlooked.  Cheers.

Hey ehatchell,

Thanks for your suggestion, I'm going to test this with my co-worker. I just haven't found much information regarding Net Meeting and Polycom equipment or other H323 equipment. I will give it a try nevertheless.

Thanks,
Primus

If its standards based, such as a Polycom, Tandberg can be configured for, you can interop pretty easily.  I'm assuming you have a gatekeeper in place to conference to and this isn't just point to point to tie in more sessions.

Hey,

This is point to point most of the time. I have gatekeeper capabilities, I have not configured them though. I always thought it was not needed as I use a 3rd party service for IP to ISDN connections and never needed more than one connection for IP to IP connections. We only have 1 to 1 connections, no multi-connections!

Either way, I'm going to look into it tomorrow. Thanks for you help, I will update tomorrow.
