How do I resolve memory problem with Citrix published application

Problem -
I need to determine the cause of a memory error.

Scenario
A Citrix server with Presentation Server 4.5 FP1 is installed on a Dell 860 with 4Gb of RAM.

There are several published applications, but one of the published applications has an intermittent memory error.

The application is an EMR program by NextGen, and it works well in general, but when several templates are opened within the application a generic error is produced. Error: Not Enough Memory!

I cannot determine at what point this error is caused. Therefore, I do not know how to correct the problem.  Currently, this is the only server we can use for this demo of Citrix and do not have any other hardware to use for testing.

Hardware / Software Involved

Server = Dell 860 server, with 2.4Ghz processor and 4Gb of RAM. Windows Server 2003 R2 (fully patched), SQL Server 2005 Express, Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 FP1.

Workstations = any.  Generally, the office has tablet PCs by Motion& but even offsite on other desktops and laptops (HP, Dell) the problem exists. It doesnt matter if the workstation is using Vista or XP either.

The other applications do not fail. Just the one EMR application. Any ideas what could be causing this to happen? Do I need to supply you with any further information?

CarlWebster,
Nothing in the event logs.... that's what is making it a mystery to me.

Thanks,
I will report back later today.

I believe the Isolation Environment was an excellent idea. It did NOT resolve the memory problem. We installed it two different ways.
First, we published an application with Isolation settings while the application was installed normally on the server. When that didn't change anything we.... Removed the application, and reinstalled it using AEISETUP and installed the application into the Isolation Environment. We were still scratching our heads when this didn't resolve the issue.

We suspect two things...
1. We have sent part of the application to the application developer to use in their Citrix environment -- to test if they get the same error. (we suspect they will not)
2. We think that most likely we are dealing with a server that needs more hardware or we need to install with a 64-bit Windows environment.

Your thoughts?

Are there any switches in the server's boot.ini like /PAE and or /3GB?

I have run this application before, been awhile so the name didn't ring a bell at first, at a large cardiology clinic with no issues.  They just used plain old 4.5 32-bit on server 2003 32-bit with 4GB of RAM.

I am not familiar with the application, but your 2 ideas sound reasonable.  Before trying 64 bit I would ask the developers whether it is supported.  If so it would certainly improve the memory situation.  If not, maybe you can try upgrading the test box to enterprise and adding more RAM.
Here is also a good article on TS memory limitations in case it helps:
http://www.brianmadden.com/blogs/brianmadden/archive/2004/02/19/the-4gb-windows-memory-limit-what-does-it-really-mean.aspx
But I also suspect it may turn out to be more about this specific software so you may want to try re-asking the question in a zone specific to troubleshooting this type of software to get additional ideas.  And the developers may also turn out to be your best resource for troubleshooting this error on a W2K3 box.

I am taking the issue to the developer and will get it resolved there. If they do not have anything quickly, I will try Enterprise with more RAM first, then take it to 64-bit OS (I believe it does work in that environment - but I will check on that too)
Thanks!
