Does anyone know in what model server did dell start to the severs with a SATA back plane? I am trying to find a cheap unit on e-bay with a SATA back plane.

That's SC430. You can get it cheaper in dealnews.com (I got it for $300 refurbrished). They don't have it often, but they offer good deal. My server is running two years now. However, here is the one in eBay
