How to monitor queues in MS Exchange 2003?

How can one monitor the number of messages pending to be sent at a given time?  I will like to be able to graph number of messages in the queue to see trends.  Thanks.

Queues are a neglected area of Exchange Server 2003 configuration.  There is lots of interesting information in the queues folder.  If you take the trouble to trace these queues they lead to features like SMTP connectors and Stores, the result is that you appreciate how the Exchange 2003 components interact.

Performance monitor exposes queue lengths, and will let you log.

Hi,
Pleasse use Performance Logs to Monitor Queues, you can setup Alerts. Refer: http://computerperformance.co.uk/HealthCheck/Exchange_Health.htm#Monitor%20Queues
Now, all software you buy will use these counters only. Best would be MOM 2005. Else you can try any of the reporting softwares listed here: http://www.msexchange.org/software/Reporting/
Let me know
Thanks
