Access Rules in ISA Server 2004 That Allow TREND MICRO to Update

Currently we have Trend Micro OfficeScan and other Trend products installed on a Windows 2003 server. Updating license information has not been possible. Support people at Trend inform me that we have to configure our ISA Server 2004 to solve this problem. How do we set up inbound and outbound access rules that will work?

Before you create access rules, check the options on Trend to see if you can configure the application to use your proxy server. Usually this is all you need. After you configure it, the traffic is implemented in a forward proxy mode and it bypasses the ISA as solicited traffic.
If you want to create access rules you must know beforehand the ports that Trend uses in order to configure ISA to permit the traffic. Ask the Trend guys to submit the info so that you can fix the rules ...

Configured it to use the proxy server and no dice. Supposedly Trend folks use port 80.

Ok, before opening any ports, install the "Firewall Client" on the server. This will provide a secure communication channel with the Internet without posing any threats to your intranet. With "Firewall Client" you can make any application work.
