This router was installed before i ever came to the company and i am trying to get into it but i have no idea what the username and password is. I have searched all of our documents everywhere and can't find anything.

is there anyway that i could restore the factory defualts to this router without getting into enable mode?

Here you go:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps282/products_password_recovery09186a00800f8db5.shtml

Essentially, you will reload the router and enter ROMMON.  Set the config register to 0x2142 which bypasses the startup configuration (where the passwords are kept).  You can then boot the router with no configuration and either keep the config but change the passwords or start with a new config.

Just don't forget that once you are done with the password recovery procedure to set the config register back to 0x2102.

conf t
config-register 0x2102

You set the confreg to 0x2142 via ROMMON?

no.

i can't get into it to change anything.

as soon as it loads up in the hyperterminal it is prompting for a username and password.

i can't do a show version or anything.

You need to break into ROMMON.

Power off the router then turn it back on and start pressing CTRL+BREAK in the hyperterminal session (plugged into the console port).

Then use the confreg 0x2142 command at the rommon> prompt.
