I have done a system restore into a VM from a backup of a server that was not a VM
I neeed to reinstall VMWARE Tools but using the menu item in teh console doesnt invoke the install process as normal for some reason.

Is there a way I can force the Tools install or an ISO on the host I can mount ?

For some reason the installer often doesnt start automatically

Once you have issued the command to install/upgrade the VMware tools and it has appeared to do nothing you should move into the VM, go to my computer and you should (hopefully) see the Tools "CD" is mounted anyway

Run the setup manually from in there

Thanks for your comments

In this case the problem was down to my error.  I didn't have a CD drive configured for this VM. Doh.
