Internet Access

Hi,
A Director at one of the networks I admin, approached me the other day to ask if it was possilble for me to monitor what sites and how long employees were spending looking up personal content on the net. Is this poss just with windows server 2003 or can anyone recommend any software package that can deliver this service.

Regards

Your firewall should be able to show some type of report. I'd recomend ISA 2005. It will do everything you want  plus clean the kitchen sink.

Hi wantabe2

So will ISA 2005 be able to monitor employees individually.? The boss wants to keep his eye on certain employees, will this create a report to the effect j.bloggs has spent 5 hours on facebook this week, and 2 hours on twitter..  I think thats the sort of thing he wants..

Yes, you can monitor by IP, computer name, user id & can monitor live or even get retro activity from today to prior months. ISA 2005 is basically a software firewall. Then if you catch people doing things you want to do, you can block things per user or you can block sites across you domain with custom warning pages. Its pretty neat & fun to mess with users :)
