Thunderbird email
recently installed this on a friends pc as an alternate to outlook express.recently the programme shows emails as SENT,but they have not been received at addressees INBOX. I have sent a few test emails with and without attachments with same results

hi war1, there is a copy in SENT folder,i checked that immediately after sending the test messages.these messages were sent FROM my friends pc using TB. to my own seperate email addresses. on returning some sometime later i checked my emails with zero results. we are both using the same POP provider and i also have a Gmail a/c.
i have checked my friends antivirus provider AVG, nothing unusual there but have changed to another antivirus programme with no change,still nothing being received.
finally as the addresses in TB were imported from Outlook Express there maybe some snag there,so when i visit my friend again in a few days, i shall enter the address directly in his TB rather than pasting from his address book to see if this corrects the fault

Since you are using Gmail, Gmail has some quicks. Email sent to yourself is not downloaded via POP3 access unless you use Recent Mode

i think we have had a misunderstanding here.there is nothing wrong with my personal emails. i intalled thunderbird on a friends pc, which appears to send outgoing emails ok as indicated in SENT folder but these emails do not arrive at addressees email INBOX. ever.......
as stated above i have changed antivirus from AVG to another programme,but dont know if this will fix problem

Check if the recipient got your mail but mail goes to Spam folder. Some servers block Gmail mail by sending Gmail mail to Spam folder.

the combination of c haning antivirus programme and reentering addresses in tb seems to have cleared the problem.there is a lot of info on web about interaction of avg with tbird

Is there a copy in Thunderbird Sent folder?
What email service are you using? Some email services (eg, Gmail), does not download email sent to self. So the test is invalid.
How long have you waited for email to arrive at recipient? There could be a server delay in sending or receiving the email.
