ASP.NET MasterPage Change Does not Reflect in Page Based in it

I find that whenever I make a change in my masterpage, a page that is based on the master page does not change as well forcing me to make a new page based on the updated master page and cut and paste the code, delete the old page, rename the new page to the old page.  All tedious and not too swift.

Please advise as to some hot key, menu item, or technique to circumvent this.

Thanks,
Howard

That does not make sense. An update to the master page should get reflected instantaneously. Please post some code indicating the part you are trying to change.

Let's say I add another contentplaceholder.  When I go to the derived page,  the added contentplaceholder does not appear to be available, as though I somehow needed to refresh the solution.

It'll help me big time if you post some html.

To add a new page, are you right clicking on the master page in the solution explorer, and clicking on "Add Content Page"?  Or are you doing it some other way?

I select the project, right click add new item and then in the following dialog I select add content page  checking to use a master page.
