Outlook 2007 emails won't show as being read when read

I have an XP Pro workstation running Outlook 2007. When opening an email and closing the email, it should show up as being read (unbolded) It does not do this. However, the "Unread Mail" folder shows the unread email. I checked all the "Options > Tools" settings I can think of. Any help is appreciated.

Hello agieryic,

This is a common problem among Outlook 2007 users.  Make sure you have all the latest updates from Outlook 2007, including SP1.

A workaround is to mark the message as read and then mark it as unread, and hit F5 right afterwards. That seems to clean up the mailbox.

Hope this helps!

ASKER

I confirmed all updates and Service packs are up to date. I tried manually marking an email as read and unread, refreshed to no avail.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I tried that as well with no luck. It has to be something within the users logon profile's settings.
I ended up recreating the users logon profile which basically was the same as setting up a new user account and then creating Outlook profile and restoring the users email.
