I am trying to setup 2 accesspoints in wds mode.
I've read many pages but they contratict eachother.

Some say that the access points should have the same wireless channel. Other say different channels.

Anyone know some free tool to check accesspoint strength and on which channel that they are?

    Accepted Solution

Yes, go here & in the upper right hand corner click download netstumbler.
This tool will allow you to see the RSSI value from your access points & also see what channels they are on. If the APs are around -65 -80 rssi they DO NOT need to be on the same channel. If they are further apart then that, being on the same channel will be fine.
