Forgot Window Server 2008 Password

Domain Administrator account and the local Administrator account both.

I am not sure Petri's 2003 solution will help yout to recover 2008 password...

2008 is alike Vista and maybe Vista pass recovery will help you...

yeah already did.I have tried almost every trick by petri because here i dont have any information of both the accounts so i am totally screwed here.Besides that i have tried even that logon.scr trick by petri but the Windows File Protection settings reverse whatever i did.Any other solutions.Currently i am working on PING linux trick,so if its working then ill be posting it here.Thank you.

replacing logon.scr with cmd.exe ,but i have not tried this trick yet.

But in this i should be having local administrator password.Because after creating a domain there is no local administrator for the server.Is it ?

Just a suggestion, If you have another computer available, you can download a linux operating system, burn it to CD and make it bootable. I have a program called Master Key, I just used it a month ago on a 2008 box and it worked great. I've had this cd forever, so I couldn't tell you where to get it at, but I did a quick search and found this site http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-ways-to-reset-the-forgotten-windows-administrator-password/ , I have not tried this (even though the OS is common now), its worth a shot. There are several other free linux apps avail on the internet that can reset a lost password. (Oh, and you dont have to understand linux to reset a windows password, Im a 100% windows user. just follow the directions and thats about it.)

But the only thing is ,whatever i have used so far works with same functions.Search HASH files and decrypt the password ,which i guess is not possible in windows 2008.

I will try and find that cd that I have tomorrow and get you more information on it. I couldn't tell you how it works, I just know its one of our forensic programs. Just happened to come in useful for resetting the password on a locked server 08 machine.

That is another option, instead of searching for ways to reset a server password, do searches for free forensic tools. The tools we use usually cost a pretty penny, but you might be able to find a forensics trial program that may do what you need for this one particular item.

I did a quick google search on windows 2008 forensics tools, and this site seems to have some tools available. I do not know if they are free, nor how they work. The do appear to be free however, just looks to be a little time consuming, but if it works...it works...

Believe me,as i told that ive tried each and every trick posted on the internet.I am good in search and i already know about the tools like ophcrack,rainbow tables,bt and etc.This forensic tools are hard to understand but let me check with some experts at my side,if they can help.But i really need the solution urgent ,as its about the server and all my pabx systems and accounting applications are installed and running currently

Sorry for my bad english,but so far i've came to know that not so many people are using windows server 2008 and very less cases are there where user have forgot their password.So there is no way ,this issue can be resolved.Plus, even EE doesnt have any similar topic where i could seek any solution.I am still looking forward for new solutions.
