mosPathway not updating in Joomla

I've recently updated some of my menu items in my template for www.tagoras.com (see the Expertise section). After the update, however, mosPathway is not generating breadcrumbs for the new menu items.  It is still generating breadcrumbs for the old items. What do I need to do to get it to work for the new items?

As you know the breadcrumbs module works from the menu hierarchy. if you use the link type for menu items it will break the bread crumb pathway.

There are a number ways around this you copy the full url of the page you want to link to an paste into the link url box. You can use the JoomlaPraise extension which works on history and not on the menu hierarchy.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "use the link type for menu items." Are you saying I can't use "Link-Content Item" and expect mosPathway to work? That doesn't seem to make sense given that all of the other menu items are configured that way and work fine as breadcrumbs.

Also not sure how to "copy the full url of the page you want to link to an paste into the link url box." I don't see this option when setting up a new menu item. It only gives a "Content to Link" list. No option for putting in a URL that I can see. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I plan to give JoomlaPraise a try at some point, though right now would just like to get what I currently have in place working again.

My apologies Monday morning :)

There was a bug in joomla which has been resolved since 1.5.5. If your version is older then upgrading will solve this problem. It was known to happen particularly with when blog layout was chosen.

The problem usually showed when the SEO urls option was turned on. You can turn it off and see if this helps.

Okay. Well, neither upgrading or turning off SEF urls is really an option right now. So, I remain kind of stuck.

OK you can use a patch available here.

Download the file router2.patch

http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/tracker/?action=TrackerItemEdit&tracker_item_id=11849

FTP and overwrite this file components/com_content/router.php BUT make a backup of the old one in case any thing goes wrong.

Alternatively (I have not tested this) you can try installing this extension

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/3778/details

Some info from the forum, it may help.

Well, strangely, the patch helped with the one top level menu item that I had changed (Expertise), but did not impact any of the drop downs - all of which are configured properly in the main menu. I'm stumped. The extension and forum post relate to 1.5.x and I am on 1.0.13 on this particular site. I'm thinking I may just have to wait until when I can upgrade to 1.5.x to get this working properly again.

While it may appear daunting, upgrading to Joomla 1.5x is fairly straight forward. You download a few tools and follow the instructions. Your menus and content will be migrated. See below. Furthermore there is a legacy plug in to enable you to use your old extensions. Another reason to migrate is that Joomla 1.x is going to be deprecated in the next few months.

I'm not all that worried about upgrading, it's just that I am running significant marketing starting tomorrow on the current site, so now just isn't a great time to be messing with an upgrade. I'll need to wait a couple of weeks at least. Just didn't expect to run into problems with something that was already working fine.
