2003 Server fix required, Error 4016

I have a 2003 SBS Premium server which every 2-3 days cuts off users network access.
Upon going through the MMC I find a 4016 error just before it dies.

I havnt made any changes to the server for months so I doubt it's a configuration error.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick response
I looked at this suggestion earlier.

I think it's a DNS issue . I have a standalone server and do not replicate though.
Are you suggesting to still remove my DNS entries?
Then delete my system32/dns folder
Then uninstall and reinstall my DNS?

My CPU useage is only around 2%

Ok I ran it.
The server went for a snooze for a while.
Does it create an output file?
if so whats it called? and where is is located
As I said it pretty much crashed the server after I clicked the run diags button

Ok.
I ran the file.
It doesnt say if anything fixed nor does it indicate an output file?

I am suspicious if it executed correctly.

Only events that happen afterwards ie mail down etc.
I did change the forwarders last night for the DNS.
Lets see if that works

I think I know how all this started.
We signed up for a DSL plan using a different network... Different IP addresses DNS etc.
Happened within a week of handing in out application form for the ISP.
ISP said they hadnt made any changes .. I find it odd that my DNS has been ok for 3.5 years and then collapses

in 24 hours if its stilll up then I will post points.
It seems that it was the DNS forwarder that was the issue which I think changed with the ISP (different network but same ISP).

and it's down again.
I had 2-3 good days and then it died with a 4016 error this morning.
I think it needs the DNS reinstalled tonight.

These are the event errors that I get as per below:

The DNS server timed out attempting an Active Directory service operation on ---.  Check Active Directory to see that it is functioning properly. The event data contains the error.

Interesting to note that I dont always get an error when the server fails
Avatar of BJJ_Man

ASKER

ok.
The DNS is re-installed... Interesting to note that a lot of machines were sharing the same Ip addresses as others which were logged on at the same time???
So I deleted the zones
So im waiting to see what happens now
