BlackBerry BIS emails are all showing the same date

Hello,

I've configured a BlackBerry to retrieve my gmail account.  I set this up through my cellular provider's (T-Mobile) BIS account.  The synchronization works fine, and all of my messages are downloaded, however, they all show as having arrived on the same date.  They were also showing as new, but I was able to mark them all as read.  As a result, I have several hundred emails showing as if they were received just today, however, many of them date back to early last year.  If you go into the messages themselves, their original dates are shown.

Is there any way to configure the BlackBerry to sort the emails by their original dates, not the date the emails were synced with the phone?  I tried the gmail app from the Google site, and though it does a fine job of sorting them correctly (and by their original sent date), I don't like having to have the gmail app loaded and running in the background constantly.
