I have a 2 yr old plasma screen from hitachi and noticed about 1 yr ago that on certain things i had a few dead pixels.

Strange thing is, it took me a further yr to see the pattern, it only happens when watching channel 4 or films from film 4. It does not happen all the time, but when it does happen its only on these 2
channels. On any other channel (including high def) it does not happen.

What is it about ch4 !!!!

If it only appears on channel 4, it's not a dead pixel - those stay dead, no matter what channel.  You may have a controller that is marginal and the frequency of channel 4 causes it to go over the edge.  Try changing the brightness and contrast to see if the pixels change.
