Sorry, i check your link...But i couldn't find what i need...There are links for downloading ubuntu but i have already one...

Let me rephrase what i need:

I have problems with my friend's display card, so i have to change the level as terminal level...I have only a black screen and need to install via that terminal screen...I need a guide of installation of Ubuntu without installer GUI...

Best regards

Above post is for oklit...

Also i checked your link, but this is GUI installation and i don't have installer GUI since my friend's display card gives hard time to me...I need to install Ubuntu completely from terminal...After installation, i will change XORG parameter to recover the problem...

Best regards...
My link is for alternate cd download with text based install.
the link above describes both graphical and text based installation of ubuntu

Ok, text based install but my thing is not text based install as in the link:

I mean, in my case when i plug the CD, The X cannot be loaded and there are some silly colorful lines and no GUI, so i changed the init level as 1 and some screen like ubuntu$ubuntu prompt screen is what i have got...Not resembling to text mode thing in your links...

oklit:
>>Get iso with alternate in its name (choose proper one accordingly to your architecture)
The alternate one is i guess for textual installation...right?
Yes it is.
From that page: "This installation CD is suited for computers unable to run the graphical desktop based installation, either because their computer does not meet the minimum requirements for the live cd or because their computer requires configuration after the installation is complete in order to use the desktop."
oklit:
ok...

So, it's impossible to install via terminal screen?

Best regards and thanks for your patience...
Init level 3 is the normal for command-line functionality with networking etc. If you have installed Ubuntu already, try that. Otherwise, what is the problem with the CD suggested by oklit?

I couldn't install...

No problem with his solution...But I was thinking, is it really impossible by using terminal (black screen, not text mode)? Because, I 'guess' with text mode, again i will encounter similar problem...(Yet, of course, i will/want try oklit's solution)

Best regards...
Ok...Tomorrow, i will be probing installing Ubuntu without X according to oklit's way...

Hi there;

Well at last, i got the iso, burn it to a cd and install the ubuntu alternate...Ok...I have no problem installing ubuntu but the case is after installing and after selecting the pardus OS from grub bootloader...But while the OS is opening, there is only a gary/white screen...the machine is ASUS by the way...and the graphic card is ATI Radeon 3650...

the thing is i change the init level as terminal screen and try to configure xorg.conf under X11...xorg.conf content is empty...

So, What should i do now?

I mean, while installing the the OS, I set the user account and password but for example, i cannot login as root since there is no root account yet set...How to create root password after installation?

when i say su -
he prompts the password but there is no password set yet...

Another thing is mounting the cdrom...How to mount the cdrom so, i can get xorg.conf somehow? I mean the command...

or any other solution?

Best regards...
>> the pardus OS
edit: ubuntu OS

by the way, when i try to startx:

I got the error:

Fatal server error:
server is already active for display 0

What should i do?
You don't need a root account, you do:

sudo [command]
and then give your normal password.

thanks rid...I got that...

sudo startx...same problem...no joy...
