We have a 2003 server running SMS.  Suddenly you can't remote into it even though remote desktop set up looks fine and you can't see or access the shares

you did not change anything in the LAN card properties, like file and print sharing?

"What has to be running set in IIS"
sorry, but what are you saying about IIS now?

we are working on network shares and RDP access, right? I don't see what IIS has to do here?
so what did you do before this all started?
any related errors in the eventlogs?

Never mind the IIS
We changed the administrator password a few weeks ago.  I have been through services and set everything revelant to use the domain admin password.  At this point we could still access shares but sms would not work.  not work being it would not push any software out.  maybe this is password related.  Last week the shares quit showing up after doing nothing

hm, changing the domain admin password is ok, should stop the shares from being accessed or rdp from working.
what happens when you create a NEW share on the server and give everyone fill conrol on sharing and security permissions?

Can't see it.  Don't know if it is related but we also cannot remote into the machine suddenly.  The change machine name option is greyed out because it says networking is not turned on

hm, i still gues there is smth wrong with the tcp/ip properties.
note all your ip settings and you could disable/enable the NIC, or even reinstal it and install it again.
