How can i monitor or limit a user's file size on a file server. Quota won't do exactly that. I need to know when someone puts a 200mb file and justify it, not just an overall disk usage quota.

As far as I'm aware you can't quota individual files. You could start using File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) and the File Screening feature to prevent users saving certain types of files (and it has the Storage Reporting facility which can run reports on file sizes, duplicates etc...)

Find out more about these here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/R2/storage/default.mspx

This may work. I'll look into it. If it will report file sizes, i may can get the notification i need that way.
