Working driver for EPSON TM-U220PD printer?
I am looking for a working Windows XP driver for an EPSON TM-U220PD Point Of Sale Printer.
The details of the printer are:
Make: Epson
Model: TM-U220PD
Model #: M188D
In the device manager it shows up as EPSONTM-P2.01.
I have tried 2 or 3 of the Advanced Printer Driver from the official EPSON website and none of these have worked. They have created a printer with the right name under Printers and Faxes but the EPSONTM-P2.01 still shows in the device manager with no driver installed.

I am not able to print after installing the driver from the Epson website as it constantly says the printer is "not ready" and I believe this is because of the missing driver in the device manager. I have managed to print out a lot of gibberish text and symbols when installing an incorrect driver. This doesn't help though.
This printer is a new install on this computer and the previous computer that it was installed on doesn't exist anymore so I am unable to retrieve the drivers from that.

What interface are you using on the printer?

OK, I was reading through the documentation for the drivers. Use the APO_405E.zip driver and forget the rest of them.
Uninstall and delete everything on your system that relates to this printer then restart.
Verify you have XP Service Pace 3 (install it if you don't, the driver requires SP3...weird huh?)
Run the APD_405E installer.
Hopfully this works.
BTW what security software are you running on this computer?
Cheers,
Perry

Hi,
I have tried using the APD_405E driver previously and by also following your instructions above. Unfortunately this does not make any difference.
I have Service Pack 3 installed.
I am using Norton Internet Security.

Try uninstalling Norton Internet Security then reinstalling the epson driver.

I have tried installing the drivers with Norton disabled and I have now tried installing the drivers after removing Norton Internet Security and there is no difference.
The device manager is not recognising the drivers that are installed for this printer.
If anyone can find a link to the exact driver or driver .inf file for EPSON TM-U220PD it would be much appreciated.

When you unzip the APD_405E and install it, it puts a file called TMUSB90.INF in C:\Program Files\EPSON\EPSON Advanced Printer Driver 4\TMUSB\TMUSBXP
Try that one or this path
C:\Program Files\EPSON\EPSON Advanced Printer Driver 4\Driver

I have also tried this and it is not working.

Typically Printers dont show up in the device manager. Are you able to print to the driver when using a driver from the Epson web site? Was the printer ever working or is this a new install?
If it was working at one point try uninstalling everything related to the printer, restart then install it again.
