how to upgrade firefox 1.0 to firefox 3.0.6 on RHEL-4

I am very much new to Linux. When i run Firefox 3.0.6.tar.b2z on rhel-4 in GUI mode and open the browser it shows the previous version.
when i run in text mode it says....dependent library files are missing.
please help me to upgrade firefox.
which version of linux will have firefox 3.0 by default? if so where do i download.

Rhel-4 am using is not a licensed version. so i cant register on RHN to get updates.
 the link given to donwload yum also doent work.
which missing libraries does it complain about ?

hey! now i was in almost end stage. I untar the .tar file and extracted on desktop.
when i run the command ./firefox it gives error:  as follows
./firefox-bin: error while loading shared lib: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

It dint work. Anyways as the version of linux was not very important for testing an application i installed Obuntu 8.4 and uninstalled existing obuntu firefox and installed Mozilla firefox 3.0.6. below link explains very neatly.  http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/firefox

Remove the early version completely - then re-install 3.04
