Activex Combobox in Excel

I have a combobox that loads and populates when a workbook loads. Currently, when I click the dropdown arrow and select an item in the list a message box pops up and diplays the selected item. So far so good. However the dropdown stays in a dropped down state and you are able to select another item in the list, before clearing the messagebox. Is that normal behavior or am I missing something-- which is very likely.

    Yes, it does seem to be normal behavior. To "disable" this behavior, select something else, possibly the cell underneath the Combobox....

        Private Sub ComboBox1_Change()
            MsgBox ComboBox1.Text
        End Sub

    I'm curios though - why do you need to show the selected item in a MsgBox?

    Thanks. The MsgBox was just to help me figure out how this thing was working.
