Index Server with aspx files doesn't see page title

Index server seems to catalogue .aspx files but doesn't find the page title which is an attribute in the code line used by the Master page. Is there a new filter to use in Index server or possibly a coding convention to ensure Index server finds the page titles.

We could put <header> and <title> tags into the aspx page but this seems a bit crude and defeats the  object of the Master page. I'm sorry if this has a simple answer but we have searched and cannot find anything sensible.

What I usually do is put a a content place holder in the <head> tag on the masterpage, and then define each page in the content area.  Like so:

<head runat="server">
    <asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="head" runat="server">

<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" Runat="Server">
<title>Cotent Page</title>

That should allow the index server to pick up the <title> tag in each page.  It also allows you to add custom description and keywords to each page.

Thank you, didn't think of a placeholder in the head - that solves it very neatly. Thanks again
