USB Removable Drive brought to RDP Session will not open

We are using a VDI thin client with ESX servers. When accessing remote desktop sessions, a USB removable drive is redirected from the local machine to the session. This drive does not appear under "Devices with Removable storage" as it does with a regular client, but instead appears under "Other", much like a PDA or scanner would. This client is accessed by the public, so we have a stringent group policy which prevents access to any other drive. As such, the USB drive is needed for any user to save documents. When an administrator is logged in, the device is accessible. When the user is logged in, the device is visible, but not accessible. There is no error, the device just does not open. The device appears a mapped drive. I am sure this is an issue of permissions, yet I have no idea where to apply permissions. Please help.

Hi all!
We were able to solve our issue. It appears that the port used by the virtual machine for USB tunneling is the same port used for sound. As we did not need sound, we had closed this port. Once we allowed traffic through this port, our issue was resolved. Hope this helps anyone else who may have a similar problem.
