Javascript Src = In IE

When I call a javascript file that resides above my pub www root via src, it works fine in Firefox & Safari but fails in IE. It's not a permissions issue.. took care of that. When I move it into the www root, it's fine. Anyone know a workaround without putting the file in my pub root? Truly stumped.
This works in all browsers:

<script type="text/javascript" src="insidewww/file.js"></script>

This works in all except IE:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/absolutepth/abovewww/file.js"></script>

    Accepted Solution

I know, and use relative paths successfully on IE, FF, etc.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="../../here/there/abovewww/file.js"></script>

Try to use a relative path instead, staring by ../
    for example:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="../absolutepth/abovewww/file.js"></script>
