Both me and my IT manager are new to VLAN territory, so we're having a bit of trouble setting up our prototype vlan environment. We are moving offices soon and thus re-designing our network. We recently just ran out of /24 addressing and we are going to seperate our broadcast domains with several vlans.
We can't get inter-vlan routing to work. Our DHCP server is disconnected from the switch entirely to make it as simple as possible to test. We currently have 3 VLANs set up on our procurve 5406zl. One for workstations, one for servers, and the default vlan. I have computer A(10.0.2.30) on it's own vlan and computer B(10.0.1.125) on another vlan. Both computers use static addressing. IP routing is on, however when I connect to the switch from computer B, I can't ping computer A - pinging from B to A or A to B doesn't work either. For simplicity's sake, I have nothing connected to the 10.0.3.255/24 VLAN
Here's a simple diagram
What do I need to do to get inter-vlan routing to work? From my understanding of the manual, VLANs on the same switch can communicate directly through the switch using inter-vlan routing, but I haven't been able to yet.
