Is there a way to use .NET framwork classes from a VBScript?<br />

I need to make a quick utility to parse xml objects from a file, but rather than launching visual studio for a simple utility, I though maybe a vbscript can do the trick?

I need to make a quick utility to parse xml objects from a file, but rather than launching visual studio for a simple utility, I though maybe a vbscript can do the trick?

VBScript using .NET

Most development for the Microsoft platform is done utilizing the technologies supported by the.NET framework. Other development is done using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for programs like Access, Excel, Word and Outlook, with PowerShell for scripting, or with SQL for large databases.

Microsoft Development

The .NET Framework is not specific to any one programming language; rather, it includes a library of functions that allows developers to rapidly build applications. Several supported languages include C#, VB.NET, C++ or ASP.NET.

.NET Programming

VBScript (Visual Basic Scripting Edition) is an interpreted scripting language developed by Microsoft that is modeled on Visual Basic, but with some important differences. VBScript is commonly used for automating administrative and other tasks in Windows operating systems (by means of the Windows Script Host) and for server-side scripting in ASP web applications. It is also used for client-side scripting in Internet Explorer, specifically in intranet web applications.

VB Script

Visual Basic is Microsoft’s event-driven programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) for its Component Object Model (COM) programming model. It is relatively easy to learn and use because of its graphical development features and BASIC heritage. It has been replaced with VB.NET, and is very similar to VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), the programming language for the Microsoft Office product line.
