After installing Ubuntu 8.10, this message came up...

I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 and when rebooted this message came up:

"Boot from (hd0,0) ext3     011d8424-6fd4-4ae0-8ef5-7cf6454fca80
Starting up.....
Loading, please wait...
usplash: Setting mode 1152x864 failed
usplash: Setting mode 1024x768 failed
usplash: Using mode 800x600
Gave up waitin for root device. Common problems:
   -Boot args (cat/proc/cmdline)
-Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
      - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
    -Missing modules (cat/proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/011d8424-6fd4-4ae0-8ef5-7cf6454fca80 does not exist. Dopping to a shell!

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.10.2-1ubuntu6) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs)   _ "

Nothing happens afterwards. Just the underscore blinking....
Help would be appreciated.
