check for errors in the device manager, and that the sound card is installed <br />
then check in control panel&gt;sound if the speakers are installed without error (right click on it&gt;properties to see more)

also - verify in the bios what sound system you use : AC97 or high definition sound

Go to device manager and try uninstalling the device. Reboot the machine and the drivers should automatically reload.<br />

Typically no... is the sound card built into the motherboard? Is it a laptop or desktop? Are your speakers build in or external. It's probably a driver issue because this is a know issue with Vista.<br />

Try updating all the drivers (Motherboard, NIC, CD\ROM) based on their manufactures (Go to Man. website).<br />
<br />
If that doesn't work go in and make sure that your device is not muted in someway.

I installed over the xp pro.<br />
I uploaded all the driver from the cd that came with the mother board. Motherboard was P5L-mx asus.. <br />
Everything went well but when i tested the sound, nothing came up.. <br />
