You can assume that a lot less Exchange boxes means it can host storage for other apps as well, whether under VMware or not.<br />

The problem is though that under the hood it's Windows on an industry standard x86 server, it doesn't have redundant controllers so it is a single point of failure. If you're using HA/Vmotion etc it's hardly useful to have non-redundant storage back end. If you're not running HA/Vmotion etc then you might as well have local disks.<br />

Assuming you want some redundancy I would look at the MSA2000i instead since it can take 2 controllers.<br />

I should have put in my original question that I was looking for HA. &nbsp;I've read all the HP stuff on the All in One (AiO) and whilst HP say it can be used for VMware with HA/VMotion I haven't found anyone who is actually using it, those that I do know have gone for a SAN solution. &nbsp;My understanding is that the AiO is NAS and works at file level whereas the MSA stuff is SAN and works at block level. Will VMware (or Hyper-V for that matter) perform adequately with NAS shared storage?

We are small company (40 users) running MS Exchange 2000, MS SQL 2000, MS Sharepoint, Terminal Services (most users are located in branch offices) on dedicated Windows 2000 servers. &nbsp;We now have to refresh our infrastructure and looking at running a virtualised environment using VMware ESX 3i. &nbsp;The cost of fibre channel SAN is very high and I want to consider using HP's All in One 1200r Storage based on iSCSI but I am concerned it will not perform adequately and end up being a bottleneck. &nbsp;I appreciate it's difficult when you don't have our sizing information but our Exchange Mailstore is about 13Gb, SQl about 4Gb, user files storage about 25Gb.

Is anybody running VMware esx server 3i on hp AiO1200r storage?
