Event id 1069 - cluster resource 'Network Name(xMailbox)' in Resource Group 'xMailbox' failed
Dear Experts.
We have two Mailbox servers running in single copy cluster(SCC) mode.
the problems are
1. The cluster has stopped working .In the cluster administrator the network name ,first
storage group/mailbox database,Exchange System attendant instance failed to start.
2. Exchange Mailbox is completely down.
Actions Taken
I checked Microsoft Exchange Information store service and it was in stopped state.
I tried out the registry changes as suggested in technet but that did not work out.
The following errors have occured in event viewer after a restart
1. Event id: 1069
Source: ClusSvc
Description: cluster resource 'Network Name(xMailbox)' in Resource Group
'xMailbox' failed.
category: Failover Mgr
2. Event id: 1196
Source: ClusSvc
Description: The required registration of DNS name(s) associated withcluster
resource 'Network name(XMailbox)' failed for the following reason
This Operation returned because the timeout period expired.
category: Network Name Resource
3. The other event id's are 7001,7034and 7031 whose screenshots are attached in the doc file including the first two event id's.
Thanks X-sam for your valuable solution. The "dns registration must succeed " error is resolved but i am still not able to find the a solution for the event id 1069 due to which "network name resource" still fails to come online.
The exchange server is still down and no one is able to retrieve their mails.
Suraj
give me the complete event id error with discription please
The attached document(eventid.doc) with the question shows all the eventid errors that have occurred after a restart of the server.
can you please clarify the link to the hotfixas you have suggested in the previous comment.?
So this is the conclusion. This is the required solution to the above problem.
You can use the Cluster command-line utility to set the "DNS Registration Must Succeed" private property to "Not Required." To do this, follow these steps:
A) Go to Cluster Administrator.
B). Right-click the corresponding Network Name resource, --> Take offline.
C). Open a command prompt on one of the cluster nodes, and then type the following command:
cluster res " network name resource " /priv requiredns=0
D) In Cluster Administrator, right-click the cluster resource--> click Bring Online
To correct the other errors
1.created a new Cluster Group
2.Created a new "Network Name" with the name X_Mailbox the previous was XMailbox.
3.Checked the dependencies (cluster resourses) of Old Network Name "XMailbox",created those resourses manually in the new Cluster Group.
4.Then replicated the exact dependencies in the manually created resources and moved the new Cluster Name "X_Mailbox" to the new Cluster Group.
5.Then made each resourse online one by one.
The exchange server is still down and no one is able to retrieve their mails.
