ARCserve STOPPED doing backups

Hello, we have arcserve r11.5 sp1 and suddendly, it stopped doing backups.

Im familiared wiith the hability of arcserve to shred its own DB, but in this case, it all works, it has everything scheduled, however, it never starts.

even if i force it, it wont start.

Any ideas?

The problem is in Tape engine.

Apparently its a DB connection problem.

DB:: DB_GetEntryPoints:: pfASDBConnectToDBServer failed... Disconnect error = 0x1
DB: Disconnected from Database Server
DB:: SetDummyEntryPoints:: Executing SetDummyEntryPoints. error = 1

Ok, that doesnt seem like issue with tape engine. Those are the messages from Tape Engine saying that it cannot log into the Database engine. Is that a rotation job you are running. Rotation job needs the DB engine be up and running in order to start where as a normal custom job does not.

Is the Database Engine service shutting down? have you been running maintenance on the DB
? is it VLDB or SQL Database?

download cd1.zip and upgrade arcserve to sp4

perform a reboot of the machine and try performing backups
