Cisco Unity Express IMAP and iPhone

I have a couple of iPhones, v2.2
I am trying to set them up to retrieve voicemail via IMAP to a CME7.1/CUE7.0
I have tried it via Cisco VPN, wireless on the LAN and over the Internet
When over the VPN or wireless LAN I can ping the CUE and the SMTP server but when it goes to retrieve the messages it says it cannot connect.
If I use the same settings/credentials in Outlook, it works fine.
On the iPhone, I verified that SSL was off.

I think the voicemails are stored in a WAV format anyway aren't they?  It wouldn't surprise me if the iPhone can play them anyway.  I guess you could test this by forwarding a message to gmail or something.

Yep, if I send the message to my e-mail as an attachment, I can play them on the iPhone.  Just can't use IMAP yet.

OK, I assumed since the iPhone could do IMAP and I can setup IMAP in Outlook and works with Unity EXpress that it should work with the IPhone.
Right now I do have it sent as an attachment and that works fine, but wanted to see about IMAP
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.
