Acer Aspire One won't start

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook, running Windows XP sp3. Recently, I closed the lid on my computer as it was running (expecting it to go into standby or some such). When I came back to the computer a day later, nothing would happen. When I press the power button, it lights up green, but the computer does not start. I have removed the battery a number of times, and have plugged it in to charge it (the battery light lights up as if completely charged), and have tried starting the computer plugged in, without a battery in place. Still, nothing happens when I try to power on. (Other than a half-hearted sound of a fan trying to run.)
