I am trying to initialize a datetime variable with a null value but I do not understand the syntax/configuration.  Can someone point me the right way.

Here is the code I am trying.
string tmp2DateTime;
                    tmp2DateTime = "";
                    if (myUser.dob == null)
                        MyGlobalVars.dob = "00/00/00 00:00";
                        tmp2DateTime = myUser.dob.ToString();
