PowerQuest DriveImage stuck after reboot

I just reinstalled WinXPsp3 on Toshiba laptop, then installed DriveImage 2002.  On first attempt to image C: drive, computer restarted and now I get a "| ." on an otherwise black screen after the initial run setup options.  So, I have two goals.  The first is to go in a get rid of the boot file that is stuck, and the second is to get DriveImage to work.  If DriveImage is a lost cause, I am open to suggestions for an equivalent imaging solution (but I really like DriveImage).

I've used older versions of Driveimage and it was ok. I've since only used DriveSnapShot. I'd give it a try.

Thanks TCB1.  Can anyone tell me how to boot without running the DriveImage startup file?
Try pressing F8 after POST but before the windows logo. Then in the menu select the option that lets you step through the things that load up or maybe safemode. Then perhaps go into the Driveimage setup and disable what you need to.
I already tried that.  Doesn't even get to POST before the dead screen I described in my question.  I think I need to boot from floppy of cd and delete the files or the pointer that are being used to boot up, but I don't know how or what.

Thanks TCB1.  That Recovery Console worked like a charm.
Now I think the fix is to put the DriveImage Rescue Diskettes on a CD and boot directly into the DOS version of DI.  Will try that now.
