If you haven't already, I would check for torrent programs, spyware/malware, and check the running process, sort by memory and CPU to see who the heavy users are.

A good memory test would be to open all the programs he usually uses.<br />
Open task manager <br />
On the Performance tab Commit Charge Total should be smaller than Physical Memory Total. &nbsp;If not then more RAM will make a huge difference.

I concur with gg711, Office needs more RAM to be happy. If it was Office 2003 I wouldn't worry, but it's 2007 which is more of a memory hog.<br />

Another thing to look for is to look for Adobe Reader running in Task Manager (processes tab). It tends to load into memory at startup, hogging memory while it waits to be used, rather than loading at the time it is needed. With only 1 GB of RAM, that could be part of what is slowing things down.

I did notice AVP (kaspersky) and Outlook peaking the top. &nbsp;<br />
Though I think outlook is peaking because we just archived half a gig!!! &nbsp;HOly moly. &nbsp;So it's probably indexing for searches.. <br />

I'm gonna give it some time to do it's thing and check back. &nbsp;But in the mean time, any advice is great. &nbsp;keep it coming!

Try this before messing with PAE.<br />

Looking at all the things reported as being slow in your initial post suggest to me that Virtual Memory may be set too high, or low, or to auto. <br />
Most of programs those rely heavily on Virtual Memory,,, and if it configured wrong,,, you see?<br />
<br />
I would make sure it's set at or below 4Gb before messing with anything else.<br />
If it's set too high (or ridiculously low) then correct it.<br />

Also the default is for Windows to control it.<br />
That's a performance hit because Windows want to re-size it continually and that takes resources and occupies the hard drive more often than it needs to be.<br />
Best to manually set it so that high and low are the same value.<br />
Most folks recommend it be set to 2x physical RAM - as long as that's less than 4GB.<br />

So for that system set both high and low to 2GB and see how it runs that way.<br />

I am going to try that. &nbsp;Also, I am going to remove PAE from the boot.ini. &nbsp;Every computer on my domain has that. &nbsp;NONE of them are 4 gigs. &nbsp;Any other reason to have it? &nbsp;The only computers on my network with 4 gigs or higher are my servers..
