STMPROUTE Qmail same domain
Hello,
I would like to configure Qmail 1.03 to forward mail traffic of the same domain to another server where I have duplicated all the e-mail addresses.
In the file /etc/qmail/control/smtprou tes, I have another server of a diferrent mail domain, but I am not sure if by setting a new line of routing will send all trafiic to the other server and will not store the mail in the server
For example in my mail server I have the following:
GNU nano 2.0.2 File: smtproutes
mycompany.net: 10.10.10.1
But changing it to
GNU nano 2.0.2 File: smtproutes
mycompany.net: 10.10.10.1
mycompany.com:10.10.10.2
Will affect the local delivery for server wihich is the same domain where I am routing the e-mail (mycompany.com)
Comments or suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
Harold

I am trying to understand
you want mycompany.net & mycompany.com email traffic to arrive to your internet exposed server, but that server to forward traffic for mycompany.com to an internal server?

qmail effectively is an MTA, Mail Transfer Agent.
There is a MDA (mail delivery agent included) to make it usable.
(The MDA delivers in maildirs).
So technicaly you need to make sure the storage where all data is saved
(the maildirs need to be in a secure shared storage).
Maildirs do allow for this, so be sure you have some mirrorred storage that is accessible to both sites.
QMAIL (or any other mail) is not suitable for supplying mirror services.
The SMTP protocol should take care of partial deliveries and retry it later or to another MTA for your domain.
DNS can help you to expose multiple SMTP access points with relative priorities.
(MX records).
