How are you changing the IP?

when you change IP address then those established sessions to old ip will be referring to old ip which does not exists. You need to stop these sessions then change ip address.

Your router maintains a mapping between IP and MAC address.  When you change the IP on the system, the router needs to update it's tables.  There is a time-out on the router, so it should fix itself after a time.  Try powering the router off and on and see if it picks up the connection.

What happens when you run ping after changing the IP address?

Are you disabling/enabling the network device after changing the IP address?
