Reboot the computer and log in as domain admin (reboot is required to let go of all ntuser files).<br />

OK, if you create a user and set up all of the settings and software as you want it, excepting email (!!!), you should then boot into safe mode, login as the administrator, &nbsp;and copy NTUSER.DAT from that user to the Default User folder.<br />
After that, any user created on that system will get all of your setups and the reason you don't do email is because you don't want a common GUIID included in the profile.<br />

 &nbsp; Yes. That is the exact sequence of events I mentioned above. He was talking about the entire profile, ntuser.dat and all. There are a few other entries that need to be adjusted other then just the e-mail but as a rule it works very well.

I have used this technique at a couple of different sites.<br />

What prompted us to use this technique was Power Settings. It is pretty difficult to get Power Settings to hold on a per-machine basis rather than per-user.<br />
<br />
The idea is that we used a 'Template' account - user name = template. Use this acct to login and do set up. In our case, logged in a set the Power Settings to those settings we wanted to use for the machine - i.e. for all new users who logged into the machine.<br />
<br />
Once the settings were set, make sure that the desktop, the start menu is just right as well. Make sure the trash is empty. Make sure that there are no settings set that you don't want EVERY user to inherit - like hidden folders visible or extension showing. . . .<br />
<br />
Once all is right, login as another user. Copy that profile to 'Default User'. Give LocalMachine/Everyone permissions to the profile, and then . . . . .<br />
<br />
In our case we disabled the 'Template Acct' after it was set up and the profile copied. (We did this because the Template Acct in our case had Admin rights).<br />
<br />
Now, any new user who logs in to that machine gets all of the settings from the Tempale acct via the Default User acct.<br />
<br />
I have tried a bunch of different strategies for setting Power Settings on a per machine basis, but this is the ONLY technique I have used that consistently works. AND, it works for ANY settings you can set for a user.<br />

I think the step I was missing was booting to Safe Mode to to complete the copy. Plus logging on to the computer as a user that has NOT already been logged on before I completed the copy helped too
