Set maximum number repeated characters allowed in a password

Is there a way in Windows 2003 Active Directory to Set maximum number repeated characters allowed in a password without buying a third party application?

no - not natively.
Basically you have the options for complexity, remembered passwords etc... complexity of 3 out 4 from length, Upper/lower, special character and integer.... part of this is checking for common "faults" such as the password being too similar to the username etc.... but there is no way, natively, to check for that.

I was afraid of that. I do have complexity turned on. I am trying to stop users from just changing their complex password by on number as in the example IH8Psswrds1 to IH8Psswrds2.
Do you know if Windows 2008 added the rule?
