File Type Not Supported by Phone (.jar file) Sony Ericsson K800i - What causes this and how can i get around this when providing WAP links from web app?

Last Modified: 2013-12-27

I'm developing an application in ASP.NET that sends java files to a mobile device.

When testing with my Sony Ericsson K800i, the phone brings up a message just before download saying "File Type Not Supported by Phone" (and others have a similar problem). However, the file type is supported by the phone, and afterwards downloads fine. I just don't want this ugly message to come up.

I've experimented with other sites that get around this problem on the same phone -  some how.

How can i fix this?
