Best way to store keywords for an intellisense enabled editor

I was curious as to what the best practice would be for storing keywords to be used as intellisense autocompletes similar to .NET's intellisense.

For instance, if someone were to begin typing Begin-Select, the editor would look up and display an intellisense box which lists all available elements that filter based on what is typed.

I was thinking some SQL tables to store the keywords and loading them all into a data structure when the program begins might work well.
