speedfan not adjusting fan speed

I tried to adjust my fan speed as it's too damn low (540 rpm) and currently the CPU temp is 53 degrees C. However I can't manage to get the fan speed up using speed fan. Why is this? is the BIOS blocking me for doing so? How can I set the fan speed then? The system is a dell xps 420 with a Q6600. Please suggest me what to do

See if nTune will run on your system & if so set the fan speed with that

isn't that for GPU?
I just download the software and can't find anywhere to adjust the temp
CPU, GPU and auxilary fans depending on the motherboard.  The XPS desktops should all be supported.
I can't find the option anywhere to change the fan speed there

"To control the CPU fan speed as well as the speed of auxiliary fans, click Adjust
Motherboard Settings from the Manual Tuning section of the Control Panel
Performance page."

it only traces the GPU temp.. for some reason it can't find the CPU
Strange - possibly your board isn't supported. What are the BIOS settings for your fans?
I don't even know how to get to the BIOS settings of my fan

what? this is really stupid
At 540 rpm is sounds like you have a BAD FAN.
.
oh really? what should be the normal rpm?
my laptop fan speed it self is at 2000 rpm, right now my desktop looks retard as I have to run it with the case open and a desk fan next to it.. please can anyone help
Depending on the fan somewhere between 2400 and 5500 RPM.
Most are probably in 2400-3600 RPM range.
also in speedfan you got the reading from core0-core 3, and there's CPU... what is this CPU ? Which one should we be concerned with? CPU or the cores?
