How to create a Role based on an existing User in MSSQL 2005

I am in the process of tidying up our application/system accounts on our MSSQL 2005 server. We have an existing user account that has all the correct permissions for a few systems to access our main database.

What I need to do is create a new mssql role based on the user account (with all the same table/proc permissions) so that I can create a new role for each of the applications.

I can then migrate each application to its own account with the correct role and lock down the security on each to only what it needs.

I need help with writing some SQL I can run to do this or how to do it through sql manager?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should be able to do this through sql management studio without having to run sql statements.
Each database has a security node, where you can associate users and assign roles.
The server node also has a security node where you can create new accounts if need be.
