My 2008 Enteprise server won't show more than 3.3GB RAM in task manager

Hi,

I have recently installed a w2k8 enterprise server at a client's site. On this page it says http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778.aspx that the 32-bit edition will support up to 32GB of RAM, I did some more digging and found alot on PAE(Physical Address Extension) but the following article indicates that it is already enabled http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa468629.aspx

My problem being that when I look in the task manager it only shows 3325MB of Physical memory though the sys properties indicates it has 8GB like it should, I spoke to 'microsoft' and all I got was .................. shrug.

Any help would be appreciated.

You are correct in that MS says that 2008 Ent. can recognize up to 64 GB  RAm

Check the second link in my first post it indicates that PAE should already be enabled.

I didn't use HP start smart as I ordered without OS and purchased Volume Licensing Instead.

Did I not do this right?

The HP Smart Start helps configure the server.  We use Volume Licensing as well and I always build our HP servers using the Smart Start disc.

There is no way of running now I assume...

The CD does have utilities you can run while in the WIndows OS.  You may be able to tell the server to turn it on.  I don't know if that will freak out Windows though.

Do you know how to turn it on without the cd?

It was PAE, it wasn't enabled I used EasyBCD to rectify this. Thanks for your feedback
