Windows sees video adapter on Laptop but will only use VGASave
I have a Dell Precision M6300 running WinXP Pro SP3. This laptop has an Nvidia QuadroFX 3600M onboard VGA adapter. It had been connected to a docking station, with a second monitor attached. Suddenly, the docking station quit working. Then a Microsoft update was loaded. Now, the laptop will only run with VGASave. I can go into the device manager, and it shows the Nvidia card with the latest drivers. However, Windows refuses to use that adapter. It will not allow me to get out of VGASave mode. If I disable that mode, Windows boots into a blank screen with no video.

I have already done that. Unfortunately, it did not work. Windows still only wants to use vgasave.

Since I solved this myself, what is the next step as far as accepting the solution and points? I want to make sure I follow the correct procedures.

You should be able to accept your post as the solution, and that should then start the closing process.

A laptop or notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use. Although originally there was a distinction between laptops and notebooks, the former being bigger and heavier than the latter, there is often no longer any difference. Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, such as at work, in education, and for personal multimedia. A laptop combines the components, inputs, outputs and capabilities of a desktop computer, including the display screen, speakers, a keyboard, and pointing devices (such as a touchpad or trackpad) into a single unit. The device can be powered either from a rechargeable battery or by mains electricity from an AC adapter.
