Sql Server 2005 error: 18456

I installed Sql Server 2005 on my 64 bit Windows Vista.  I had all the prerequites and there were no error messages in the installation.  I used Windows authentication for security, and I am an Administrator on my laptop.

However, I get an error when I try to connect to the database engine.

Here's the error below.  What do I need to look at?  Thank you.

TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------

I assume I have to log in with Sql Server Authentication if I use sa.  I tried that but got the same error.  However, I don't recall being asked to set a "sa" password when I installed Sql Server.   Have I just forgotten I made a password for the sa account and therefore don't know the password?  If I uninstall Sql Server and re-install, would I be asked to set an "sa" password?

You will be required to setup an sa password during the install.

Ok, thank you.  It looks like I need to uninstall/reinstall and used Mixed Mode this time.  I will try this and let you know asap.

I appreciate your help!

Thank you for your excellent help!   I have reinstalled Sql Server in mixed mode this time, and can now access it with the sa account.  Now I can research the issue.
