is validator callout extender will work on serverside

Whenever I have the callout extender in an updatepanel they only work until you do a callback. As soon as I do a callback the contained extenders do not work. Any idea what might be going on with these. I can see these being a great use in our web apps but they need to work. also is there any known eta to make them work serverside too?until  serverside validations firing validator callout works, after server side alert messages appears , validator callout extender is not working
